Alliance for Betterment of Community (ABC), a joint initiative by Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan, Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan, Kowloon Club and Jiangsu Association (Singapore), will be organising the 2nd ABC Day on 11 November 2018 at Chui Huay Lim Club.
ABC was established on 26 March 2017 and the inaugural ABC Day was held on 11 November 2017. The event was well received by participants and the community alike. Following last year’s success, the Kowloon Club will spearhead this year’s ABC Day with support from the other three organisations.
This year’s ABC Day will feature the theme: “Charity for one and all” and includes a component for organisations to present and share notable charitable deeds through photographs or other forms of media. This event aims to promote the spirit of kindness and hopes to encourage charitable acts across communities. Beneficiaries of the final eight winning entries will receive a total of $40,000 donated by the four organisations, and the nominees will receive a ‘Charity Ambassador’ trophy jointly awarded by the four organisations. The award presentation ceremony will be held at the ABC Day on 11 November 2018.
ABC cordially invites clan associations, volunteer and welfare organisations, and members of the public to send in and share your experience of carrying out community projects with values-driven social impact. Submissions may be in the form of words, pictures, PowerPoint slides and short video clips. Participants may feature activities they had carried out in the past two years (since 2017) or any charitable efforts they are currently involved in. There are no restrictions on language (non-English submission to carry English subtitles) but projects must be conducted in Singapore and benefitted Singaporeans. Participants must submit their entries before 20 October 2018 to the following organisation:
