A Night of Golden Oldies and Getai performances were held on 6 & 7 May 18 respectively. A Night of Golden Oldies is a performance platform for local senior singing talents while the Getai performance is a representative of the local stage culture. Friends, families and strangers, old and young shared enjoyable moments together under the stars.
The Excursion for Peace was held on the night of 8 May 18. It showcases traditional Chinese customs where Mazu embarks on a voyage on Singapore seas. This year’s excursion was in its third consecutive year since 2016. The event attracted a large crowd.
Anticipation and hype was evident from the venue as the excursion started out with a fanfare of energetic acrobatic acts and spectacular display of lion and dragon dances. The stretch until Amoy Street bustled with activity as the colourful contingents move off orderly to escort Mazu to and fro her voyage.
Members of the public commented that it was interesting to witness this rare and eye-opening cultural festival.
