In conjunction with its 179th Anniversary and Mazu Dan – the birthday of the Goddess of the Seas, Mazu, Thian Hock Keng organized a 4-day Festival – “Journeys of Heritage & Faith” from 24 to 27 Apr 19 to promote Chinese customs, traditions, culture and heritage.
A Charity Dinner was held on 24 Apr 19 for more than 180 residents from nine welfare homes as an initiative to promote racial and religious harmony.
A Night of Golden Oldies and Getai performances were held on 26 & 27 Apr 19 respectively. A Night of Golden Oldies is a performance platform for local senior singing talents while the Getai performance is a representative of the local stage culture. Friends, families and strangers, old and young shared enjoyable moments together under the stars.
The Excursion for Peace was held on the night of 27 Apr 19. It showcases traditional Chinese customs where Mazu embarks on a voyage on Singapore seas. The event attracted a large crowd. Members of the public commented that it was interesting to witness this rare and eye-opening cultural festival.
