The National Primary Schools Chinese Story-Telling Competition 2018 is organised by Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan and the Singapore Middle School Chinese Teachers’ Association, with Chongfu School as the co-organised. The competition aims to encourage students to learn and speak Mandarin with confidence as well as to preserve and promote the Chinese language and culture. Responses for this year’s competition were well-received as 86 students from 46 primary schools participated in the event. 16 students succeeded in advancing to the finals after the preliminary round on 20 Jul 18.
The final was held on Saturday, 4 Aug 18, at Chongfu School. The Director-General of Education, Ministry of Education, Mr Wong Siew Hoong graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour.
All participants put up their best performance, and the first position was won by Yin Yingning of West View Primary School. Kwok Yu Qian from Ai Tong School came in second, followed by Yin Bohan from Chongfu School who was awarded the third place.
