Every year, students from Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan (SHHK) affiliated schools visit SHHK for a Learning Journey where they learned about the history, contributions and achievements of SHHK. They toured the SHHK Gallery and participated in engaging games that enhance their knowledge on SHHK.
On 20th February 2018, 110 Primary 4 students from Kong Hwa School kick-started the first Learning Journey of the year. They were grouped into 23 teams and had SHHK member volunteers to guide them around the gallery. They also visited the various game stations and played interesting games which reinforced their knowledge of SHHK.
At the end of the Learning Journey session, every teacher and student received a memento from SHHK for their participation. Phua Shi En mentioned that he learned more about the history of SHHK and took pride in being a student of a SHHK affiliated school. Ms Wendy Yeo also commented that the programme was meaningful and it raised her awareness of SHHK pioneering leaders’ contributions to education and how SHHK continues its noble cause to give back to the society.
