Traditions and food were the highlight of Winter Solstice @ SHHK on 17 Dec 16. Members and their families rolled their own “customised’ spring rolls and competed in a special “Creative Tang Yuan” contest. Entries included the characters “Dong” and “Zhi”; face of an old man and a family of three sitting around a pot of tang yuan. One wonders how their makers could eat the cute tang yuan! As expected, the judges had a hard time deciding the winners. Origins and traditions of the festival were also shared as participants savoured traditional dumplings and tang yuan.
