The 43rd Council Retreat was held from 1 to 3 March 2019 in Xiamen. A total of 27 SHHK Council and Committee members, as well as 7 management staff from SHHK, SHHKCA and SCDT, attended the event. The retreat was facilitated by SHHK member, Mr Robert Chew, who also did the facilitating (pro-bono) for majority of the pasts Council Retreats.

The Council Retreat was fundamentally a follow up on the findings of the Council Workplan Meeting held on 3 Nov 2018 with the setting and formulation of new directions and strategies respectively. The itinerary also included a visit to Tan Kah Kee Memorial Museum in Jimei District.
